An FHE Miracle

In our efforts to work on our date from the ward's Set-A-Date program, Paige and I have been working with a great mutual friend of ours that we have known since freshman year. We had our date picked out, but we weren't really sure how to go about talking with him about the gospel. He is a BYU student, and so he has had pretty extensive exposure to the Church, but we were at a loss. Well, after lots of praying and scheming, we were simply handed the miracle that we had been looking for.

Paige is an editor, and has often helped our friend edit his papers because English is his second language. One Monday he sent Paige an email asking if he could bring over a paper that evening to have her check it. We both felt that it was a great opportunity--he wanted to come over at the exact time we had FHE. After quickly planning it out, we decided to take the plunge and ask if he wanted to stay for our Family Home Evening, since it was something we did at that time every Monday anyway. The greatest part? He said he'd love to!

We modified our lesson plans just a bit, but still had a very good lesson about prayer and how it helps in life, aimed both at us and our friend. It was short and sweet, but it felt really good! At the end of the lesson, he opened up about his personal beliefs (or lack thereof) regarding the existence God, and we invited him to pray that week to find out if He was there. It was a fantastic experience, we felt the Spirit, and we are both so thankful to have been blessed with that miracle!
